Beauty Without Cruelty is one of the most popular high-end make up companies that is 100% vegan and cruelty free. They make a ton of different products, including lipsticks and mineral shadows. I was very excited when I saw the sale pop up on Sneak Peeq, I knew it was the perfect time to try Beauty Without Cruelty. Generally their products are quite expensive. A lipstick is $24 and a mineral shadow is $25. Wow! I scored my shadow for a mere $4 total! Isn’t that amazing?
Swatch without flash
Swatch with flash
When I swatched this shadow I was simply amazed. I applied this over a simple primer with two swipes. The color is vibrant and has lots of glitter and shimmer. The blue flecks are especially striking. It was love at first swatch. The texture, density, pigment and everything is very smooth and wonderful. Nothing like the sheer shadows from Bare Escentuals.
Application
I assume that the other mineral shadows from Beauty Without Cruelty work pretty much the same. The texture was superb and it blends very nicely when worn. The color depth is especially pleasing on the eyes, and it compliments other shadows very well. I like to use it over Pixie Epoxy to further enhance the glitter.
Wear
There is minimal fall out, which is surprising for such a glittery shadow. I wore this for 8 hours and it held up very well. I am going to wear it alone to see how it holds up on the rest of my lid and to see if it creases over primer. The wear is what I would expect from such an expensive shadow.
Value
The product is 1.5 grams for $25. This is pretty expensive for a mineral shadow. I wish they were cheaper because I would buy all of them in a heartbeat, even though some of the other colors aren’t as bold. I recommend finding Beauty Without Cruelty on sale, you are very likely to get a good deal.
Packaging
The packaging is ADORABLE, and that’s one of the things I really like about the brand. Swans are formed into hearts around the lid.
Dupes
If you want a cheaper product that is similar, I recommend trying Fyrinnae Cuddlefish. It has the same blue sparkle and glitter, but is a bit more vibrant. It’s also $23 cheaper if you buy the sample size, or $19 cheaper if you buy the full-size. Both products are 100% vegan and cruelty free.
Conclusion
If you have money to spend, this company is definitely worth trying. I love the Pride shadow, and I am interested in trying their foundation and lipsticks.
